Power of Attorney Templates

A power of attorney lets someone you trust act for you, and in many jurisdictions the document must follow a statutory form, contain specific warnings and be signed in a particular way to be accepted. Banks, land registries and care providers check these details closely, and a power of attorney that does not meet them can be refused at the moment it is needed most, often after the person who signed it can no longer sign a new one.

The templates here follow the statutory form or requirements of a named jurisdiction. Each one includes the required notices, the choices the law allows, such as when the power takes effect and which powers are granted, and the signing, witnessing or notarization steps the statute sets out. Guidance notes explain each choice in plain language, and the agent's duties are set out where the law requires them.

Choose an agent carefully, discuss your wishes with them, and keep the signed original where it can be found.
