Pet and Animal Templates
Selling a puppy or kitten is regulated in many states and provinces. Pet sales laws can require the seller to provide a veterinary health certificate within a set number of days of the sale, give the buyer a written notice of their rights, and refund, replace or pay vet bills if the animal falls ill with a condition that existed at the time of sale. A contract that tries to waive those rights is usually unenforceable, and a seller who skips the required paperwork can face penalties.
The templates in this category are written to a named jurisdiction's animal sales and welfare laws. Each one identifies the animal and its health records, sets out the price and any deposit, includes the notices the law requires and states the buyer's rights accurately, with guidance notes on the seller's obligations. Shaded fields mark what to complete.
Give the buyer copies of every health record and the signed contract on the day of sale.
