Insurance Claim Templates

After a fire, flood, theft or other loss, the claim depends on what you can document. Insurers ask for a detailed inventory of what was lost, with descriptions, ages, quantities and values, and the policy sets deadlines for submitting it. Several states and provinces have added rules that make this easier for policyholders after a disaster, such as longer deadlines, advance payments or relaxed itemization, but you still need a complete, organized record to use them.

The templates here are written around a named jurisdiction's insurance code and claim handling rules. Spreadsheet inventories are organized room by room, total values automatically and include columns for the details adjusters ask for. A claim log records every call, letter and payment, with dates and names. Guidance notes explain your rights and the deadlines that apply.

Start the inventory as soon as you can, add photos and receipts as you find them, and keep copies of everything you send to the insurer.
