HR Policy Templates
Some workplace policies are good practice; others are legal requirements. Occupational health and safety regulators in many provinces and states require employers to have written policies on workplace harassment, bullying or violence, with specific contents, procedures for reporting and investigating complaints, and training for workers and supervisors. Inspectors ask to see the policy, and an employer without one can be ordered to produce one or fined.
The policy templates in this category are written to the requirements of a named regulator. Each one contains the elements the regulator expects, including definitions, reporting channels, investigation steps, confidentiality, protection from reprisal and review dates, in plain language that employees can follow. Guidance notes cite the rule behind each section and are removed before you publish the policy.
A policy only protects the workplace when people know it exists. Post it, train staff on it, and review it at least once a year or as often as the regulator requires.
