Estimate and Quote Templates

An estimate looks like a simple price, but in many trades it is regulated. Some states and provinces require a written estimate before work starts, limit how far the final bill can exceed it, and require the customer's signed consent before any additional work. Auto repair, home renovation and other consumer services are common examples, and a business that skips the required steps can lose the right to charge for the extra work.

Each template here is built around the rules of a named jurisdiction. It sets out the parts, labour and fees in a layout customers can follow, records the customer's authorization and any limits they set, and provides space to document later approvals properly. Guidance notes explain each requirement, and shaded fields show what to fill in.

Keep a signed copy of every estimate and authorization with the job file. They are the first records you will need if a customer disputes a charge.
